GENERAL COMPETITION

1. Racers should be aware that other people use these routes between checkpoints for different purposes. Racers should always anticipate encountering people and/or animals on during the Race.

2. Whale Cove Race Committee reserves the right to refuse entry to or disqualify a Racer or Race Team member for any reason including not possessing sufficient equipment, unsportsmanlike conduct and breach of Whale Cove Race Rules.

3. Any interpretation of the Whale Cove Race Rules is strictly at the discretion of the Race Marshall.

4. Whale Cove Race Officials, or designates, may photograph or video record snow machines, racers, and gear during the Race at any time and Racer’s consent to the use of the photographs by the Whale Cove Race Committee for any purpose, at the sole discretion of the Whale Cove Race Committee.

5. The Race Marshall will have the authority to scratch a Racer and/or Race Team in the event they no longer meet the requirements of competition. All scratches must be reported at the nearest Checkpoint as soon as possible.

6. Use of the Whale Cove Race logo must be approved by the Committee Members. Race Teams are not permitted to use the logo for fundraising purposes unless approved by the Committee.

7. Race Teams will be given advance opportunity to pose questions and concerns regarding the 2026 Rule document. Race Teams will have up to 2 weeks prior to the start of the Race to have questions and concerns addressed. There will be no rule negotiations at the Mandatory Driver’s Meeting. The Driver’s Meeting will be to discuss routing only. Exceptions may be made for last minute rule changes that may be required for safety. Questions concerning the 2026 Rules can be submitted to the Whale Cove Race Committee.

8. If a Race Team has a snow machine that is made unbridgeable because of damage or other reasons, Whale Cove Race will disqualify the Racer.

9. In an event the Racer is unable to complete or continue the race, the Racer is disqualified from the race.

10. Alcohol and drugs will not be tolerated. The Whale Cove Race Committee will and can disqualify the Racer and Team.

12. Inspections will take place at the starting line area. Once inspected, the racer and the race sled will not be allowed to leave the start area

13. If the racer needs to leave the start area after the inspections The Race Marshall can/will allow the racer to leave the inspection area BUT must be back in an allocate time.

EQUIPMENT

14. Snowmobile must be in good running condition

15. Windshield held in place properly

16. Working tether switch mandatory

17. Safety on/off switch working properly

18. Skis and track, carbide and non-carbide ski-rods are permitted, also studs and/or pre-studded tracks mandatory for safety reasons (ice areas)

19. Studs minimum amount is 42 and maximum height above track 3/8” above lugs, pre-Studded tracks are permitted

20. Regular jerry can for refueling will only be used as approved by the Race Marshall

PERSONAL SAFETY GEAR

21. CSA approved helmet

22. CSA approved goggles

23. CSA approved Safety Tech-Vest

24. Device from Race Committee required

RACE RULES

MUST be 18 years of age or older

This is an open class event

The race will be a timed race

There will be 2 racers that will start at 30 second intervals

The Racer and the race sled must pass the finish line to complete the race

Starting draw will take place at the meeting

The Race Marshall will then announce once the race is ready to start

The Racers will line up at start line once the officials are ready
